A SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) is a small optical module used for telecommunication and data communications applications. This new generation of optical transceivers is a compact solution designed to offer high speed via fibre cables. SFP Optical Transceivers are a cost-effective solution that will make network upgrades easier as they are interchangeable fibre connectors. They can connect both fibre optic and copper cables. Their working distance can be from 500m to 100km.
They are tailored to support carrier optical networking such as SONET, CWDM and DWDM and are available in different wavelengths.
